Jamie Reaves Kirkley

As a research scientist and senior learning designer for IIPI, Jamie specializes in the research and development of innovative technology-based training environments, such as distributed problem-based learning. Since joining IIPI, she has been instrumental in the development of a training methodology to support embedded training using mixed augmented reality technologies. This research and development has been in conjunction with the U.S. Army Research Institute for Behavioral and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on developing scaffolding techniques to support problem-based embedded training and performance support.
Before joining IIPI, Jamie co-led the development and partner relationships of the federally funded Learning to Teach with Technology Studio (http://www.ltts.org), which is a collaborative effort of several prominent universities, the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), and the IMS Global Learning Consortium. Prior to that position, she managed the Indiana University/Turner Adventure Learning Digital Resource Management project where she supervised the development of online curriculum and materials for teachers and students participating in Turner Adventure Learning interactive field trips.
Ms. Kirkley is also the co-editor of the book Learner-Centered Practice in Distance Learning: Cases From Higher Education (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 2004). She is also a doctoral candidate (A.B.D.) at Indiana University in instructional systems technology and language education.
